easyJet, the UK's largest airline, has announced winter flights to Israel, with the launch of a regular service between London Luton Airport and Tel Aviv.

The airline is the first low-fare operator to operate between London and Tel Aviv, offering the service six times per week, beginning on November 2, 2009. Fares begin at £71.99 one way including taxes and charges.

Andy Harrison, easyJet's chief executive, said: "This is a major breakthrough. For the first time the travelling public in the London area has the choice between a high-cost traditional airline and a low-cost alternative. We look forward to bringing our unique blend of low fares with friendly service to a whole new market."

In addition to the new flights to Israel, easyJet has also unveiled a new twice weekly service between London Gatwick Airport and Agadir in Morocco, with prices starting from £34.90 one way including taxes and charges.
