New flights from Blackpool airport to Geneva are part of low cost airline Jet2.com’s new winter ski schedule.

The schedule also offers flights from Leeds Bradford airport to Chambery, Geneva and Salzburg, plus flights from Manchester airport to Chambery and Geneva. There are further flights to Chambery from Edinburgh airport, Newcastle airport and Belfast International airport.

Fares start from £29.99 one way including taxes on various routes, including flights to Chambery from all airports, and on flights to Geneva from Leeds Bradford, Manchester and Blackpool.

The new flights from Blackpool to Geneva have been welcomed. “There is an overwhelming demand for a direct route to the French and Swiss Alps from residents across Lancashire and Cumbria and we’re confident that these flights will prove popular from the word go,” says Blackpool airport communications manager, Susan Kendrick.

“By offering more flights and destinations, we are encouraging people to use their local airport so that their travelling times are shorter and the start of their journey is a stress free and enjoyable experience,” adds Blackpool airport chief executive, David Kershaw.

The flights are likely to prove popular with people looking to take a skiing holiday or snowboarding holiday, as well as those interested in a city break to Geneva or Salzburg.

Jet2.com has a special ski holiday website, jet2.com/ski, from where travellers can book ski lessons and ski passes as well as getting full resort information.
