New Manchester flights from Jet2.com

Jet2.com has announced the launch of three new routes operating from Manchester airport for the summer of 2010. The new services will create 25 jobs at the airport.

The news is sure to be warmly welcomed at the Greater Manchester airport after budget airline Ryanair's decision to axe nine of their ten routes from Manchester on October 1 2009.

These brand new routes will be operating to Kos, Venice and Gran Canaria and it will be the first time that Manchester airport has ever offered flights to Kos and Venice.

The announcement of the new flights comes after a record August for Jet2.com, their busiest month since the birth of the airline six years ago.

In addition to the new services, the airline has also announced increases in flights operating to Lanzarote, Dalaman, Sharm el-Sheikh and Tel Aviv.

Manchester airport managing director, Andrew Cornish, said: "This news is a boost to holidaymakers travelling from the northwest. The fact that Jet2.com is continuing to expand its services from Manchester is encouraging to the airport and the region as a whole."

Jet2.com chief executive, Philip Meeson, added: "It is fantastic to be able to offer people flying from Manchester a number of new holiday destinations direct from the region. No other airline operates a scheduled service to Kos and Venice and we are confident these will be popular routes."
