Holiday website for silver

The growing number of silver surfers – over 55s who regularly use the internet – can now book their holiday online on a new website from Grand UK Holidays.

The over 55s holiday specialist has released its new brochure for winter 2008-09 with a wide choice of holidays including cruises, escorted tours, self-drive holidays, special interest holidays and Christmas and New Year breaks.

“Highlights of our winter brochure are ever-popular Turkey & Tinsel breaks, tours to see Christmas markets in Germany and Holland, plus holidays in the UK and Europe over Christmas and New Year,” says Grand UK Holidays sales director, Harold Burke.

Part of The UK Holiday Group, the company also owns a portfolio of hotels around the UK. It offers free coach transfers to departure points from 360 locations in the UK, and also has baggage handlers at all interchange areas.

Launching the new winter brochure, Burke says: “We know people like to browse through the brochures then book with us or their local travel agent – now they can browse through the website too and book however they choose”.

The company is confident the new website will prove popular with the older generation. “The over 55s have more leisure time and disposable income, and they spend more time than average researching travel and holidays on the internet,” Burke adds.

Grand UK Holidays has a no single supplements policy and Burke says: “We are seeing growing numbers of customers travelling over the Christmas period, especially singles, as they relish the chance to celebrate with other folks – and not have to worry about driving!”
