Top 10 ski holiday destinations revealed

As more than one million British holidaymakers head to the slopes this winter, the UK's fastest growing ski tour operator, Directski.com, has revealed its top 10 ski holiday destinations.
Best skiing for beginners, according to Directski, is to be found at Arinsal in Andorra. "An unpretentious resort like Arinsal, away from the glare of Europe’s superior skiers and prices that are among the best value in western Europe is ideal," the tour operator says.
For those looking for an environmentally friendly skiing holiday, the best 'green skiing', can be found by taking the Eurostar train to Bourg St Maurice and then taking a short transfer to Les Arcs. People who take the train can also get an extra day on the slopes as the Friday night ski train arrives earlier than flights to the area.
Best family ski resort is Kaprun in Austria, which has short airport transfers and excellent family facilities with child friendly hotels and sports centre, says Directski. The vote for best value skiing goes to another resort in Andorra, Pas de la Casa. "The happy hours, discos, lively cafes and restaurants also give the Andorran resort of Pas de la Casa its reputation as one of the liveliest resorts in the mountains," reports Directski.
For the best apres ski, holidaymakers are advised to head to the tax free Italian resort of Livigno. The resort is said to have access to over 100km of pistes and even more bars, clubs and reasonably priced restaurants. Bad Gastein in Austria gets the nod for best ski and spa resort.
And the best place for a ski weekend is said to be Lillehammer in Norway. With snow guaranteed from November until April, this former Winter Olympics ski resort is said to have all the ingredients for a great ski weekend, including short airport transfers, fine hotels, sleigh rides, tobogganing and ice skating.
Directski even has recommendations for non-skiers. The Tirolean resort of Soll is suggested for its leisure centre with indoor sports, massage and spa facilities, and host of other activities including hang gliding.
