New Russian flights take off

Russian airline KD avia launched a new service between London and Kaliningrad on Sunday (June 17th).

Now passengers from the UK will be able to fly direct to the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad - which is found between Poland and Lithuania on the Baltic Sea - for the first time.

Passengers using KD avia's service, which departs from the UK from Gatwick, will be able to catch a number of interconnecting flights from Kaliningrad to ten Russian cities and one destination in Kazakhstan.

The new Gatwick to Kaliningrad service will depart from London every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday and the flight time to the Russian destination is 2 hours 30 minutes.

In the future, the airline hopes to offer a daily service.

"With the through check in of passengers and their baggage; a convenient schedule and an easy, more convenient transfer within one terminal at Kaliningrad airport this new flight makes KD avia a popular choice with both leisure and business travellers," explained the airline's manager of sales Alexey Leonov.

KD avia operates a fleet of 12 modern Boeing 737-300 aircraft and owns Kaliningrad's Khaborov Airport.
