New route at Newcastle

Irish carrier Aer Arann has said that it will launch a new service between Newcastle and Galway.

The airline will run the service between the two airports four times a week - on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Currently, tickets are available for just £35 one way including all taxes and charges.

Aer Arann said that the new flights would be good for people looking for weekend breaks, as Galway is perfectly situated so that holidaymakers can take advantage of the vibrant city and nearby countryside.

"We are excited to be linking Newcastle to Galway, a truly captivating county and a well-preserved area in Ireland," explained Colin Lewis, head of sales at the airline.

"We are committed to ensuring our Newcastle customers can travel in comfort to Galway, the gateway to the west of Ireland, we believe it will prove to be popular destination with visitors from Newcastle."

Chris Sanders, the manager of aviation development at Newcastle International, commented: "Adding a completely new destination to our departure board is always exciting and I'm sure the west coast of Ireland will become a very popular leisure break for north-east travellers."

Aer Arann also flies to Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Luton, Manchester and Southampton.
