Extra Xmas flights from Virgin

To accommodate the holiday rush, Virgin Atlantic will offer extra flights from the UK to Montego Bay in Jamaica over this year's Christmas period.

The airline said that it would launch five extra flights to cover the busy Christmas period.

Currently the airline operates flights from London Gatwick to Montego Bay on Mondays and Wednesday, but will add extra flights on December 22nd, 23rd and 29th and again at the beginning of January 2008.

"We are thrilled to be able to add extra flights between London and Montego Bay," commented Steve Ridgway, chief executive of Virgin Atlantic.

"This route was the airline's eighth Caribbean route introduced only last year.

"This route has proved to be very popular with our leisure customers and these additional flights will provide a further boost to the region's economy, with over 2,000 passengers expected to take advantage of the extra services."

Later this year, Virgin plans to launch a service from London to Kingston on the island.
