Ryanair has officially confirmed that it will be reinstating flights to Brussels South Charleroi, after the airport's operators made guarantees about future strike action.

Late last week, the low-cost carrier said that an agreement was likely, after it held talks with the airport's managers about strikes by security staff at the European hub.

Previously, Ryanair had suspended the sale of flights to the airport as a protest.

However, this morning (August 28th) Ryanair put tickets for flights to Charleroi back on sale on its website.

A statement on the site added that a formal letter from the airport had been received over the weekend and that this "addressed all concerns and allowed the airline to release all seats for sale from November 12th onwards".

The statement continued: "Ryanair particularly welcomed the recent agreement reached between the Ministry of Transport and the public service unions which will guarantee that in future, any strikes will be accompanied by a minimum of 48 hours notice in order to allow passengers to make alternative arrangements."

In related news, Ryanair announced that over one million passengers flew with the airline over the bank holiday period.
