Nearly half of UK travellers prepared to take children out of school for cheaper holidays

British holidaymakers opposed to price hikes during school holidays

Almost half of British holidaymakers surveyed by HolidayExtras.com would be prepared to take their children on holiday during term time to take advantage of cheaper travel deals.

Forty-four per cent of customers told the UK market leader for travel add-ons that it was unfair that prices rise as soon as the school holidays start, and they wouldn't hesitate in booking a family holiday during the term.

Currently, parents are breaking the law if they take their children out of school for holidays during term time without permission.

Almost a third of those polled (28%) said they did not want to risk damaging their children's education and so would never take a holiday during term time. Nineteen percent of HolidayExtras.com customers thought that taking a primary school-aged child out of school would not do much harm, with just 3% feeling the same about secondary school kids.

Six per cent of HolidayExtras.com customers admitted they would like to book a term-time trip, but their children's school was very strict. Men and women were evenly split on all the questions posed by HolidayExtras.com.
