The World's Most Romantic Valentine's Breaks 2016

Nothing says "I love you" like a spontaneous trip away, right?

Never beaten on price

Planning on whisking someone away this Valentine's Day? There's still time to choose the perfect break for some quality couple time. Here are the world's most romantic Valentine's breaks that are bound to get hearts racing and romance blossoming - whether you plan on popping the question, or just popping a few corks!

Seville, Spain

Seville, Spain.

The weather is just beginning to warm up at this time of year in southern Spain, and Seville is one of the best places to enjoy the gentle beginnings of the European spring. It's also a charming city to discover as a couple: the orange blossom for which it is famed will be in full bloom, and is as much a part of the city's heritage as its Gothic and Moorish buildings.

There is certainly no shortage of extraordinary architecture to admire: the Real Alcazar, Plaza de Espana (pictured) and Palacio Central are particularly worth a visit, and rival Venice with their ornate bridges and walkways. Take a rowboat tour to see the views from a unique angle. Hotels are very reasonably-priced here, and you can find affordable and comfortable accommodation right in the heart of the city. Combined with cheap flights from Ryanair or Iberia, this makes Seville the ideal destination for couples on a budget.

Flights: from £140

Hotels: from £40/night

Verona, Italy

Verona, Italy.

Venice may be the obvious spot for a Valentine's jaunt, but Verona is the numero uno Italian hotspot for couples looking to ignite the passione. The ancient city is full of romantic hotels, with prices from around £65 per night. Verona sits beside scenic Lake Garda, and there are plenty of tours around the pretty lakeside towns that surround the city. A key attraction here is, of course, the Shakespearean trail, and you can explore the sites that inspired the Bard to your heart's content. A must-see for all visiting couples is Juliet's Balcony (pictured), where you can recreate the most romantic scene in literary history.

Flights: From £150

Hotels: from £65 per night

Seychelles

Seychelles.

If money is no object, it's hard to beat the Seychelles as a backdrop for your romantic escape. The island paradise is one of the most popular destinations for overseas weddings and it's easy to see why; miles upon miles of white sand meets blue sky on the glorious unspoilt coastlines. An all-year-round warm and sunny climate means the weather won't get in the way of whatever fun and frolicks you and your loved one have got planned. The scenery is so gorgeous you're likely to want to spend much of your time here just chilling out, but there are plenty of activities to keep you entertained - including snorkeling, dolphin-watching and island-hopping through the unique 115-island archipelago.

Flights: from £800

Hotels: from £100 per night

Bath, UK

Bath, UK.

If leaving the country isn't an option around Valentine's, there are plenty of romantic spots to explore right here in the UK. Bath, the historic Roman city set against a beautiful backdrop of scenic Somerset countryside, is a popular option. It's teeming with intimate restaurants, hotels and bars, plus plenty of sightseeing options to keep you and your date busy during the daytime. Be sure to book in a trip to the Thermae Spa where you can enjoy some pampering treatments at surprisingly low cost - and head upstairs to the rooftop pool at sunset where you can enjoy views across the city as you relax in the steaming warm water!

Travel: Trains from £35 to most UK cities

Hotels: From £70 per night

Paris, France

Paris, France.

Finally, no list of romantic destinations would be complete without a mention of the city of eternal love. The French capital has plenty going for it beyond the obvious iconic scenery, fabulous food and lovey-dovey connotations. It's also a mere 2-3 hours away from the UK depending on your point of departure, and can be easily and affordably reached by air or train. This makes it a good option for couples who'd rather save their budget for the important stuff: gourmet cuisine, sightseeing jaunts and plenty of top notch Champagne.
