It's important to know the most up-to-date information about vaccinations before travelling to Morocco, to protect both you and your family.

Are vaccinations required for visiting Morocco?

No vaccinations are needed for entry into Morocco. However, there is a selection of vaccines that you should consider before visiting the country, which are listed in the detail below.

What vaccinations do you need?

You should ensure that you are up-to-date with all of your routine vaccinations before visiting Morocco. Additional vaccinations that you should have before you visit the country is hepatitis A, which can be carried in contaminated food, and a tetanus booster to prevent infection into wounds.

Other vaccines to consider are hepatitis B, rabies and typhoid dependant on your circumstances. Situations that might make you consider these vaccines include longer stays, those who need frequent medical care, people who will be coming into contact with animals and those visiting areas where there is little sanitation.

Regardless of the injections that you have, it's still a good idea to get covered by a Morocco travel insurance policy which is important to ensure you're covered in case of an emergency or the need for medical treatment.

How much will it cost me to get vaccinated?

Some vaccines are free and can be conducted at your local GP, such as typhoid and hepatitis A as these present the greatest danger to public health in the UK. You will need to pay for extra vaccines such as hepatitis B and rabies, however. The cost of hepatitis B is around £50 and each rabies dose costs between £40 and £60, meaning that a full course is around £120.

Vaccinations are incredibly important to stop the transmission of disease to tourists. This is especially important in terms of bringing dangerous infections and diseases into the UK, where you could come into contact with vulnerable people. Therefore, you should always check the most up-to-date travel advice when travelling abroad.
