Caribbean cruise to Antigua

Cruise line Royal Caribbean International has released more details about Oasis of the Seas, which it says will be the world’s largest and most revolutionary cruise ship.

With 16 decks and able to carry 5,400 guests, Oasis of the Seas will have seven distinct themed areas, or neighbourhoods. One of these, Boardwalk, is described as “a breathtaking space for families inspired by the nostalgic seaside piers of yesteryear” and will have an original, handcrafted carousel as its centrepiece.

Another neighbourhood, Royal Promenade, will have a wide array of shopping, dining and entertainment options including the first moving bar at sea, the Rising Tide bar.

"We are particularly excited about the neighbourhood concept which gives guests compelling choices and the ability to flow seamlessly throughout the ship to meet their individual desires and preferences," says Royal Caribbean Cruises chairman and CEO, Richard D Fain.

Oasis of the Seas will introduce the urban living concept to the high seas with the first loft style suites to be seen on a cruise ship. The 28 two-level loft suites will feature floor to ceiling, double height windows to maximise the ocean views.

According to Royal Caribbean International president and CEO, Adam Goldstein, "Oasis of the Seas is the ultimate expression of the creativity and imagination found on all of our ships, providing guests with a collection of experiences that will offer an incredible cruise vacation."

The new cruise ship will sail from her home port of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida starting on 12th December and will offer Caribbean cruises calling at destinations such as Nassau, Cozumel in Mexico, and the new cruise port of Falmouth in Jamaica.
