- The recent outbreak of Chikungunya...
There has been an outbreak of the mosquito-spread virus known as Chikungunya across the Caribbean islands, including Barbados, St Lucia and the Grenadines.
What is Chikungunya?
Chikungunya is a rare virus spread by mosquitos and results in fever, joint and muscle pain, headaches, nausea and rashes. Its rarely fatal and is considered less dangerous than its cousin, Dengue Fever. There is, however, no cure or vaccination for Chikungunya and treatment of the disease is focused on easing the symptoms.
Whats the chance of being infected and will my holiday plans be affected?
Its rare to get the disease, particularly if you are staying in a resort, as these are fumigated regularly. However, some holiday companies may have concerns and withdraw your holiday for your safety, in which case normal cancellation procedures will apply and we wont be able to give you any additional refunds. Cancellation charge waivers will still be honoured. The link here will provide you with more information: Cancellation Charge
