The current terminal opened in 1994, and check-in and baggage facilities were nearly doubled last June as part of an investment of more than £3 million.

Getting to Southampton airport

Southampton airport is just outside the city and is easily reached from junction 5 of the M27.
If you are coming from the M3, leave the motorway at junction 14 and follow the M27 eastbound, towards Portsmouth, to junction 5.
If you are coming from central Southampton, take the A335, following signs for Eastleigh and the airport.
You can drop passengers off on the terminal forecourt, but you are not allowed to wait there. Drivers picking passengers up should use the short stay car park.
Southampton Airport Parkway train station is next to the terminal, and a footbridge is being built to link the two.
The station is 67 minutes from central London by the fastest link, and is served by trains from across southern England and Wales. It is 36 minutes from Bournemouth, 51 minutes from Salisbury and 74 minutes from Oxford.
Many more services run to and from Southampton Central, which is eight minutes from Southampton Airport Parkway.
There are at least three buses an hour between the airport and the city centre, and the journey takes about 35 to 40 minutes. There is also a National Express coach terminal in the city centre.
