Best Travel Guide Publisher

Lonely Planet named best travel guide publisher!

Whether it's a weekend city break, a fortnight in the sun or a permanent move, choosing the right travel guide for your trip abroad can make all the difference.

Although different books deal with the same places, it's surprising how much travel guides can vary. So what makes one better than another? The answer depends on who you are and why you're travelling. You may be spending a weekend discovering a new city, or three weeks travelling around several countries.

You might be on a budget; you might have cash to splash. Perhaps you want a guide that focuses on shopping, camping, golf, walking, cycling, food, rail travel or children's activities; perhaps you want to study abroad or do voluntary work.

You may want to learn all about the history and culture of the place you're visiting - or you may just want a list of hotels where you can trust that the sheets have been changed. Every traveller will have their favourite guidebook - and we want you to tell us yours.

Votes were open to the general public as well as HolidayExtras.com customers and they have decided that Lonely Planet is the best travel guide publisher for 2011. View the full shortlist below:
