Low fares airline easyJet is today launching a summer sale, with up to 20% off every seat.

The summer seat sale starting today continues until 10th June and is for easyJet flights from 16th June until 17th July inclusive.

The budget airline says that this means discounts on over 2 million seats on summer holiday flights. Whether or not it is an indication of poor sales on overseas holidays as a result of the credit crunch, it does prove that there are still late deals to be had for last minute bookers.

The hotels division of the easyJet empire is also getting in on the act. easyJetHotels is offering up to 30% off accommodation at hotels throughout Europe from 16th June to 17th July.

The offer includes 10,000 hotels ranging from budget to 5 star at locations encompassing popular city break destinations as well as Mediterranean hotspots perfect for a summer beach holiday.

Not to be outdone, easyJet’s resort transfers partner, Holiday Taxis, is taking part in the sale too. Customers will be able to enjoy discounts of 20% on transfers in all easyJet destinations between 16th June and 17th July on bookings made between today and 10th June.

easyJet has also just announced its passenger statistics for May. The number of passengers carried by the no frills airline in May 2008 was 3,877,960, and increase of 15.9% on May 2007.

The statistics make encouraging reading for the low cost airline industry, demonstrating customer demand is still there. Occupancy levels on flights in May 2008 compared to May 2007 was however down 0.4% to a still healthy 83.2%.
