Singapore bans sex on Superjumbo

Singapore Airlines has informed travellers that there will be a strict ban on any sexual liaisons onboard its Airbus A380 flights.

Singapore Airlines has taken the unusual step of placing a pre-emptive ban on any sexual activity onboard its Airbus A380 flights.

Fears that some passengers could get a little too comfortable on flights were based on the fact that first-class suites on the superjumbo will include a double bed and be separated from the main part of the plane.

However Singapore Airlines stressed that the suites are not soundproofed and activities of a certain volume would be noticeable to other passengers.

"All we ask of customers, wherever they are on our aircraft, is to observe standards that don't cause offence to other customers and crew," the company said in a statement.

"Nothing different applies for our Singapore Airlines Suites customers."

The strong stance has not gone down well with some air travellers, with Tony Elwood, who booked a double suite on the first A380 flight, telling the Times that a degree of amorousness among passengers in private cabins is inevitable.

"So they'll sell you a double bed and give you privacy and endless champagne - and then say you can't do what comes naturally?" Mr Elwood commented. "Seems a bit strange."
