Passengers flying from Leeds Bradford Airport will be able to choose from two additional destinations from October 1st 2008, Ryanair announced on the 17th July. A flight to Girona Barcelona will operate four times a week while another service will run to Alicante three times.

Ryanair hope that the new routes will increase the number of passengers flying from Leeds Bradford Airport. Bridget Dowling stated "Direct international routes are fundamental to the economic development of cities like Leeds and Bradford. Travellers across West Yorkshire can now look forward to Europe’s guaranteed lowest fares and best punctuality with Ryanair."

Leeds Bradford is a fast-growing airport with passengers doubling to nearly three million per year since 1998. This demand is great news to the airport's Commercial and Aviation Development Director, Tony Hallwood. He welcomed the announcement, saying:

"We are pleased to see Ryanair developing their range of international services serving the fast growing cities of Leeds and Bradford. We also look forward to working with Ryanair to encourage an increasing number of tourists to our dynamic and diverse region."
