New EU air safety regulations coming into force in July 2008 have made the DC3 obsolete.

Some of the modifications required to meet legislation would be impossible or too expensive to carry out on the plane that first flew in 1935. During the Second World War, 12,000 DC3s saw active service.

Over the next few months the remaining Dakotas still carrying passengers will offer pleasure flights from 14 UK airports on a farewell tour.

The final flight will take place on 15 July 2008. Exeter Airport will be hosting the aircraft on 30 June and 1 July. Bookings can be made via the airport's website.

Make airport parking easy by pre-booking Exeter Fly Parks, a meet and greet service at Exeter Airport. You'll be met by a chauffeur on your departure and return at the terminal so all you need to think about is your trip.
