Farewell to Dakotas at Exeter
Meet and Greet parking at ExeterThe historic Dakota DC3 plane will make its final passenger flights this summer in Britain, visiting Exeter Airport on its farewell tour.
New EU air safety regulations coming into force in July 2008 have made the DC3 obsolete.
Some of the modifications required to meet legislation would be impossible or too expensive to carry out on the plane that first flew in 1935. During the Second World War, 12,000 DC3s saw active service.
Over the next few months the remaining Dakotas still carrying passengers will offer pleasure flights from 14 UK airports on a farewell tour.
The final flight will take place on 15 July 2008. Exeter Airport will be hosting the aircraft on 30 June and 1 July. Bookings can be made via the airport's website.
