Mark Smith qualified as a chartered accountant in 1978 with Touche Ross and Co (now Deloitte & Touche). Following two years as European finance director at RCA Records, he joined the Good Relations Group plc in 1984 and became its finance director in 1985. The Good Relations Group was taken over by Lowe Howard Spink and Bell plc in 1986.
Mark was one of the five principals in a management buy-out of the public relations business of Lowe Howard Spink & Bell in 1989 under the name Chime Communications. Chime Communications was floated on the Stock Exchange in 1994 and is now the largest public relations business in the UK, the largest sports marketing business in the UK and growing internationally. It also has successful advertising and research divisions.
As Chief Operating Officer and Finance Director of Chime Communications plc, Mark is responsible for both general and financial management including corporate finance activities.
Real life
Mark is very active and loves sport. He has a "great wife" and five children.
