Long term partnerships, understanding our customers, delivering quality products, and ensuring we have the right people in the right place, are all integral to our continuing success.
Matthew joined Holiday Extras as Head of Commercial in 2000, and since then has been instrumental in building new, and growing existing partnerships, with both international hotel groups and UK airports. During this time Matthew was also involved in the launch of two new businesses, the first in Germany, the second our short breaks business in the UK. In 2007 he was appointed Commercial Director; and in 2009 he became Chief Operating Officer, which means he now has overall responsibility for product, partnerships, people, contact centre, and cross business prioritisation.
During study for his law degree, Matthew developed an interest in the travel industry by working as a holiday rep for First Choice. Following university, he joined the SAGA Holidays graduate scheme, and over seven years acquired experience in contact centre management, yield management, and spent two years travelling the world as a long haul contracts manager.
Matthew is a keen sportsman, particularly golf and cycling. He rides sportives, and this year fulfilled a long held ambition by cycling up Mont Ventoux. Matthew is married to Helen, and they have a daughter, Molly.
"Ive travelled a lot in both my professional and personal life and can very confidently say that my favourite place in the world is France. I speak the language, love the culture, the food, the wine, the people, the mountains (great for cycling up and skiing down!). For me, the perfect hassle-free holiday is without doubt being with my wife and daughter, enjoying simple pleasures, in glorious sunshine, exploring a country we love. All kicked off of course with an on-airport hotel stay and meet and greet parking. Great to wave goodbye to the car, relax in the knowledge the airport is a short stroll away, and get the holiday started early!"
"The relentless pursuit of achievement, the more challenging the better."
