"Thai Airways cabin crews are trained to help with small children during the flight, but such service comes naturally to all Thais, who love children with devotion."

So says the website of Thai Airways, Thailand's national carrier. We're sure there are times when children try the cabin crews' patience, but the statement rings true, as the airline has been named a finalist in the Most Recommended Airline for Travelling with Babies category at the HolidayExtras.com Customers' Awards 2010.

"The staff were so helpful and couldn't do enough for you. They were smiling and pleasant throughout, and always on hand."

Thai Airways runs flights from Bangkok to more than 70 destinations in 34 countries, including a twice-daily service to and from Heathrow. Toys, games and books are provided for children on Thai Airways flights, and games and cartoons are available as part of the in-flight entertainment. Special meals can also be provided for babies and toddlers.

Any child who is more than seven days old can fly with Thai Airways. Children aged two years old and over will be given their own seat and will have the same baggage allowance as adults. Children under two are allowed 10kg (22lbs) of luggage, as well as a collapsible pushchair or baby basket. Baby baskets are available on flights that are more than two hours long for babies who are six months old or less and weigh less than 10kg. Nappies are available on some international flights, though passengers are advised to bring their own.
