Baby Joy for London Zoo

At ZSL London Zoo primate keepers are leaping for joy as a baby red titi monkey has been born to in the Zoo's new rainforest biome.

Born in January, Vale spent the first weeks of her life clinging onto mum Yara's back. Vale's mother and father, Thiago, are so monogamous that they will often sleep with their tails entwined. A young male red titi monkey, Vale can now be seen by visitors as he gets used to his amazing home in the Clore Rainforest Lookout.

Along with Vale and his parents, the rainforest biome at ZSL London Zoo is home to marmosets, sloths, tortoises, golden-headed lion tamarins, pygmy marmosets, sun bitterns and many exotic birds.

Native to Brazil, Columbia, Ecuador and Peru, the red titi monkey is an arboreal species that live in the lower canopy of the rainforests. This monogamous monkey lives in groups of two to four feeding on fruit, leaves and insects.
