The dining room is the same room the family ate in when this was a private house and it retains the warm, welcoming feel of being in someone's home – if that person's home was a country mansion! The walls are wood panelled and there’s an opulent fireplace, numerous antiques and a glittering chandelier completes the stately-home feel and makes dining here a romantic prospect.

Breakfast - Restaurant 1881 offers a formal breakfast experience, with friendly, professional table service. Choose from an English breakfast, Scottish rolled oats, smoked haddock, oat pancakes, smoked salmon or eggs benedict, which all come freshly cooked to order from the kitchen. The small buffet features a selection of branded cereals, fresh and dried fruit, yoghurts and fruit juices.

Dinner - Get your holiday off to a classy start with dinner at Restaurant 1881. Sit at one of the large tables in the formal dining room beneath the chandelier and tuck in to two AA rosette winning cuisine, such as perfectly-pink lamb rump and delicious, home-made chocolate torte. The wine list is extensive, featuring more than 200 different wines. There are also three different white and red house wines and a house rose.

Patio Bar

Located in the centre of the hotel, the Patio bar is a relaxed place to eat, where the simple décor exudes an almost-Mediterranean feel. The same menu is served for both lunch and dinner, and can also be ordered through room service for a £5 charge.

Lunch/dinner

The bar menu features a selection of both hot and cold sandwiches, including ham and wholegrain mustard, tuna and mayonnaise and a BLT. There’s also a limited range of main meals – we recommend the Cajun-fried chicken burger in toasted ciabatta. Children's meals can also be made available. All ingredients are purchased daily from local suppliers and freshly prepared and cooked to order.
