There’s no need to drive through the night because booking an airport hotel doesn’t have to break the bank. Take the Liverpool airport Premier Inn, for example. The hotel is less than five years old, custom-built and extremely comfortable, all for a great price. It’s hard to find a good-value, limited-service hotel at this high standard, but the Premier Inn fits the bill.

You may not get a gym, a pool or a host of bars, but you will get comfortable, modern rooms and chirpy, friendly staff. Our room was as comfortable as one you’d find for twice the price and you can’t fault the service. Everyone we spoke to was friendly and seemed genuinely interested in striking up a conversation and giving you an old-fashioned Liverpool welcome.

One thing you’re sure to feel at the hotel is safe. We had to use our key card 3 times in going from reception to our room, which had deadbolts and covered peepholes in the door. The hotel is welcoming and cosy throughout, and the security only makes it feel more so.

Tasty treats at the Thyme bar/restaurant

For your dinner and breakfast, the Premier Inn’s branded Thyme restaurant is a comfortable, up-market pub with a good range of drinks and some nice food. The menu isn’t fancy, but it’s all very-tasty comfort food and the price isn’t excessive for an airport restaurant, particularly the good-value breakfast.

If you just want a comfortable place to spend the night, you won’t go far wrong with the Premier Inn. You might find it leaves you with some extra spending money in your pocket for your holiday too!
