The line of planes behind the fence as you walk to the entrance reminds you that the Holiday Inn Express isn't just the closest hotel to Luton airport, it's closer than close. This three-star hotel is within the airport grounds, less than half a mile on the shuttle bus from the terminal - where you're probably further away from the planes than you are in the hotel. Sit back in your air-conditioned room and enjoy the great views of the runway - but, thanks to the triple glazing, none of the sounds.
The Holiday Inn Express Luton Airport features a restaurant, a bar serving drinks and snacks, wifi access, an internet kiosk, an ironing room, a flight information screen, a microwave, a vending machine, safety deposit boxes at reception, an ice machine, a luggage weighing scale and a payphone. Free newspapers are also available. The hotel is air conditioned and soundproofed throughout.
You can check in for Ryanair and easyJet flights and print your boarding pass using a machine at the hotel. There is a £5 charge for this.
The hotel also has seven meeting rooms and a business centre where you can print, type, fax, photocopy and scan documents on weekdays during office hours.

Rooms
Rooms at the Holiday Inn Express Luton Airport have triple glazing, air conditioning, an en suite with a power shower, satellite TV with pay movie channels and CBeebies, a hairdryer, a radio, a full length mirror, reading lights above the bed, a desk with a lamp, a telephone, a chair and tea and coffee making facilities. All double rooms have a double sofa bed as well. Guests can choose whether they would like soft or firm pillows on the bed.
All the rooms have been refurbished in the last three years.
High-speed internet access is available in all rooms and costs £6.50 for an hour or £15 for 24 hours. The internet can be accessed through the TV.
Room service is not available.
Dining
Tuck into pub classics in the restaurant from 6pm to 9pm. Start with crunchy mushroom boats, then enjoy the roasted vegetable and wensleydale bake before treating yourself to an ice cream brownie cake.
The bar is open all day and has a TV which is used to show sporting events. The restaurant and bar area was redecorated in 2009.
Breakfast is available from 6.30am to 9.30am and is free. And there's good news for lovers of English breakfast: as well as the continental breakfast, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages and beans are now available. Coffee, cereal and toast are available from 4am.
Guests can order takeaways to be delivered to the hotel and the hotel has takeaway menus available.
Check-in
The earliest check-in time is 2pm and the latest check-out time is noon.
Facilities for disabled customers
Eight rooms in the hotel have been designed for disabled guests. These have a walk-in shower with a seat, two sinks and an emergency cord. There are six double rooms and two twin rooms.
The hotel also has a lift, disabled parking spaces and an evacuation chair to help evacuate wheelchair users if there is a fire.
Hearing loops and pillows which vibrate if the fire alarm sounds are available for guests with hearing difficulties. The hotel accepts guide dogs.
The hotel has five pairs of interconnecting rooms, which would be suitable for disabled guests who want to sleep next door to their carers.

Prices and packages
Prices below applicable for double room on 23 May 2010- Room with up to 8 days' parking - £91.00
- Room with up to 15 days' parking - £120.00
The hotel offers secured parking for up to 15 days at Airparks. You should park overnight at the hotel - reception will give you a voucher to exchange for long term parking at Airparks. In the morning, before your flight, you should take your car and your voucher to the car park, following the directions given. The car park provides transfers to and from the terminal 24 hours a day. Transfers are included in the price.
Extra days' parking will be charged at the car park's normal daily rate. Overnight parking at the hotel costs £5, which is payable to the hotel.
