Holiday Inn, its in the name...
A warm welcome can be expected at the Holiday Inn Luton-South, on the M1 at Jct.9, Markyate in Luton. Whats that I hear you say: you want an airport hotel not a country one? Well, lucky you, here you get both. Youll enjoy views of the countryside as well as the knowledge that youre just 15 minutes drive from the airport.
The perfect setting.
Theres something idyllic about staying in the country hotel. You feel a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the airport. The hotel feels warm and cosy, the rooms equally so. Each has everything you need and a little more for that matter.
A spa escape.
The hotel even has its own health spa, Club Moativation. Get it? Moativation? No, us either. Despite the dodgy spelling, the leisure club is very nice. The staff are friendly, there are two gyms and the swimming pool is a good size. Its definitely worth a visit. You feel like youre on a spa retreat in the country rather at a busy airport hotel.
We recommend the Holiday Inn South M1 J9 for:
A great escape -Run away to the country and enjoy the pool, the bar and the glorious restaurant before you get away.
Convenient parking -the Holiday Inn is the closest Luton hotel to Airparks.
Tasty food - the food is really good, at a great price and the restaurant staff are brilliant.
Arrival at the Holiday Inn
You can check into the hotel from 14:00.
Directions to the hotel:
Leave the M1 at junction 9 and take the A5 towards Dunstable and Whipsnade. After about a mile and a half, you will see the hotel on your right.
If you're coming by public transport:
The hotel doesn't operate its own transfers, so you will need to catch a taxi from the airport to the Holiday Inn. The cost will be approximately £14.
From 20:00 on the 14th November to 06:00 on the 17th November, the slip roads from Junction 10 towards Luton airport will be closed. This will cause some traffic disruption, so make sure you leave plenty of time to arrive at your destination.[/date]
There are roadworks in Luton taking place at various times throughout the year, so make sure you allow extra time to get to the airport. Check the Luton airport website for more details.
Getting to and from LTN airport
In the morning, park your car at Airparks, then take one of the transfer buses to the airport.
It takes just 13 minutes to get to the airport, which is 4 miles from Airparks. Buses run every 20 minutes, 24 hours a day.
Theres no need to worry about navigating through the airport traffic when you arrive, because theres a purpose-built area for drop-off buses. So when you get to the airport its just a short 3-minute walk on the pavement to the terminal.
When you get back from your holiday, catch the transfer bus back to Airparks. Buses leave from bay 12 at the drop-off area of the terminal.
The new buses are all fitted with seatbelts and have plenty of room for all of your luggage. They lower so its easier to get on and off, and can also accommodate wheelchairs. Transfers are included in the price.
Skis, snowboards, bikes and large items can be taken onto the transfer buses as long as they are securely fastened and/or are in appropriate cases. If the luggage racks are already full when you reach the front of the queue you will need to wait for the next bus - don't worry, they come every 20 minutes.
Returning to the Holiday Inn
You must check out of your room by 12:00.
The hotel can arrange a taxi to the airport for you. It will cost around £14.
