It’s not a cabin in the woods, but a lodge on the A56

Just a few minutes’ drive from the motorway, getting to the Manchester Altrincham Lodge is straightforward if you follow the directions below. If you are using a Satnav, do not turn off of the A56 into a residential road as the GPS navigates, as this will lead you to a dead end. Instead, keep an eye out for the Pelican Inn - a vast black and orange timber building on the A56, and turn into the car park beside it. The Altrincham Lodge is at the rear.

If you’re arriving by car:

From the North:Take the slip road off the M60 at J7-8 and bear left onto the A6144(M). Turn right onto Chester Road (A56) and continue for 2.3 miles until you see the Pelican Inn on the left. Turn left into Altrincham Lodge.

From the South: Exit the M6 at J19. At the roundabout, take the third exit onto Chester Road (A556). At the next roundabout, take the second exit onto Dunham Road (A56) and follow this road for approximately 3.8 miles. After a set of traffic lights with a Toyota garage on the left, you will see the Pelican Inn on your right. Turn right into Altrincham Lodge.

If you’re coming by public transport:

The nearest train station to the Altrincham Lodge is the Timperley metrolink with direct routes into Manchester city. The closest bus station is three miles away.
