We don't want to make it big-headed, but we have to say that the Premier Inn Newcastle airport is pretty much the perfect airport hotel. It's within the airport grounds, just four minutes' walk from the terminal; it's clean, comfortable and well-equipped. It's hugely family-friendly - children stay free and eat breakfast free. And if you want proof of the north-east's legendary friendliness, you'll get it from the helpful, welcoming staff.

Dining

The food at the Premier Inn Newcastle airport is not only tasty but fantastic value too - especially if you're a kid.
Adults can enjoy two courses for £11.95, while children can have a main course for £3.95 and a starter or dessert for just 75p.
Only certain dishes are included in the £11.95 offer, but with pub favourites, fish, pasta, pizzas, grills, burgers, salads and steaks on the menu, you'll not be short of options. We'd choose breaded Camembert with salad and onion marmalade, followed by chicken makhani curry with basmati rice, naan bread and a side order of sweet potato and chickpea curry - and we'd make room for tiramisu afterwards.
There's a good selection of dishes on the children's menu too, from fish and chips to minced beef and onion pie - and when you see them tucking into their banana, Belgian waffle and chocolate fondue dessert, you'll want to regress to childhood.
Anyone who likes to live by the saying 'eat breakfast like a king' would do well to come to the Premier Inn Newcastle airport. The all-you-can-eat continental buffet costs £5.25 and includes porridge, muffins, crumpets, croissants, berry compote, fresh fruit salad, granola, cereals, yogurts, dried fruit and toast. For £7.99, you can add to that as many cooked items as you like - pork and vegetarian sausages, bacon, omelette, scrambled eggs, poached eggs, fried eggs, boiled eggs, tomatoes, baked beans and mushrooms. To drink, there's Costa coffee, various kinds of tea, and fruit juice. Soya milk is available on request.
For guests in a hurry, the hotel offers a Grab and Go breakfast of a croissant with coffee or tea.
The hotel bar is open from 11am to 11pm.
