Yes. A quick search in Google yields over two million results for windsurfing weather updates. But which are the best?

Many of the sites provide great information that's both relevant and up-to-date. We've waded through the results to find what we consider the best resources when looking for windsurfing weather forecasts.

Windguru has an excellent weather forecast engine. It provides forecasts at three hour intervals at pretty much any windsurfing site around the world. Windguru provides really detailed information; their forecasts will tell you the wind speed, wind direction, temperature, isotherms, cloud cover, rain and finally gives a star rating depending on how favourable the conditions are.

In addition to weather forecasts, the Windguru engine gives you a map, webcam, wind report, accommodation details, schools/rentals, shops and more. We recommend giving it a look - it could prove invaluable in helping plan your holiday effectively.

If you're heading to Australia you may want to also consider looking at Seabreeze. The site provides some of most detailed forecasts possible for Australian surfers. You can view forecasts up to seven days in advance for wind and waves, wave direction and period, and moon and tides. Seabreeze also provides live weather readings in extreme detail. It's well worth paying a visit for those heading down under.

Windfinder not only provides detailed weather forecasts, but has produced some handy apps to enable you to take that data with you. The first that caught our eye was an extension called Windfox for the web browser Firefox. In windfinder.com's own words:

"Windfox is an extension that displays current weather data and forecast values (wind speed, wind direction and air temperature) of your favourite surf spot in your Firefox browser."

The extension will also alert you when the weather meets your preset ideal conditions. Checking wind data every 15 minutes, this could be a very useful addition both at home and on holiday.

At the time of searching we couldn't find any equivalent app for Google's Android platform, so if you're using a phone running the Android OS then we recommend just using the web browser and heading to Windguru.
