How Holiday Extras helps you pick the best meet and greet parking at every airport

Holiday Extras is the largest and longest-established provider of holiday add-ons in the UK - airport parking, airport hotels, lounges, travel insurance and more. For 36 years we’ve been looking after our customers’ cars while they go travelling, and last year we looked after a record 3.3 million cars.

Meet and Greet parking is the most hassle-free way to park at the airport. Last year more than 600,000 Holiday Extras customers used our Meet and Greet airport parking services, and a massive 93% of them said they’d book it again. It’s an increasingly popular, convenient way to park at the airport.

Book your Meet and Greet parking

It works like this. A professional driver picks up your car from departures, drives it to a secured car park near the airport for you, and then drives it back to arrivals when you come home. You don’t do any of the parking, and your car’s right there so you can drive home as soon as you step off the plane.

Meet and Greet parking from Holiday Extras

Your car is ready and waiting as soon as you step off the plane

At Holiday Extras, our mission is hassle-free travel. So we hand-pick the best meet and greet providers (which means there are dozens of meet and greet parking companies we’ve chosen not to work with). Many of them we’ve worked with for more than ten years, and some of them have been parking cars at airports almost as long as we have. We visit all of our parking providers, and make sure the car parks meet our standards, such as having proper security in place. We make sure their drivers are properly qualified and properly insured. And like every product we offer, we try and test it ourselves before we recommend it to you - that’s why on the Holiday Extras website you’ll normally be able to see our own original photos and even videos of the hotels, lounges and car parks we offer.

Book your Meet and Greet parking early

It pays to book your airport parking, airport hotel or your lounge as soon as you book your flights. Prices usually go up nearer the date you fly, and last year Holiday Extras saved our airport parking customers £59 each on average when they pre-booked their airport parking instead of paying on the day.

Book my Meet and Greet parking today

Most of all, if you book with Holiday Extras you’ll be booking with a 36-year-old, family-run business based in Kent where more than a thousand people are dedicated to working every day to make your holiday hassle-free. So in the rare event that anything does go wrong - you know you won’t be on your own. You can always give us a call, and one of our hundreds of travel advisers will be on your side to sort it out.

How to protect yourself from fake meet and greet operators

1. Make sure there’s someone to talk to

First and foremost, make sure there’s someone on the end of the phone who you trust to look after your car, and who you think will look after you in the unlikely event something goes wrong. Anyone can set up a website and claim to be a parking company, so if you’re at all concerned that your car might not be looked after, give them a ring and see what they say (or if they even answer the number they're listing). At Holiday Extras our award-winning call centre is available 8am-9pm on weekdays and 8.30am-8pm at weekends. You can talk to us on 0871 360 2603, or contact us here.

2. Check for photos and videos of the parking service you're buying

At Holiday Extras, we’ve tried, tested and recommended the products we offer. We’ve visited, reviewed, photographed and filmed most of the car parks, hotels and lounges on our website, which means if you’re booking through us, more often than not you can see what we’ve seen when we went to check them out. Have a look at the website and check whether there’s evidence the company you’re dealing with have visited the car parks they’re offering and checked them out.

3. Check for an Approved Operator scheme

If the airport from which you’re flying uses an Approved Operator scheme for Meet and Greet Parking, check that the parking service you’ve chosen is on the list. For example, Gatwick Airport has an approved operator scheme. All of the Meet and Greet providers that Holiday Extras uses are on that scheme, so you can book any of our suppliers with confidence.

4. Make sure you’re leaving your keys with insured, professional drivers

All of the Meet and Greet companies we use are required to have fully-insured, professional drivers. Before you leave your car with someone, check that your car will be insured the whole time it’s in their care.
