Renaissance London Heathrow: A hotel for the truly jet set
Youd be sleeping in one of the planes if the Renaissance's London Heathrow hotel were any nearer to the airport. The joint closest hotel to terminals 1 and 3 is right beside the runway and a plane-spotters paradise - get one of the rooms on the south side of the hotel and you can watch the airline action to your hearts content. You wont hear a thing though - the Renaissance is amazingly quiet inside, thanks to the two layers of double glazing on every window.
This is one of the best Heathrow airport hotels to help you unwind before your holiday. Theres a large gym, which is fully equipped with fixed and free weights, bikes and treadmills, a sauna and steam room, plus a mirrored exercise studio which runs a daily programme of classes including yoga, salsa and zumba.
Famously comfortable beds
We arrived at the Renaissance Heathrow at 8.30 pm . I was traveling with my husband daughter her partner and 3 grandchildren. I booked and paid for in advance a family room for 5 and a double for my husband and myself. When I booked I was assured by your booking agent that the hotel provided interconnected rooms for familyâ€s traveling with children . At 8 .30pm after a long and tiring journey we we told that non Of our rooms were ready . Also that the hotel does not have family rooms ( this was on my booking) That there were interconnected rooms but non available for us !!! My daughter was very upset because the manager told us that the children would have to have room on their own . This was totally unacceptable to my daughter as her children are too young to be put in a room on their own in a large hotel I paid almost £600 for the night with parking and to be absolutely honest I am very very annoyed that I was told there were family rooms at the hotel . Please look at my booking and you will see I was misinformed!! Also were did not get into our rooms till after 9 pm ... totally unacceptable as we had to be up for a very early flight the next day . The manager of the hotel told us we need to take it up with Holiday Extras ... I would like this complaint to be taken Very seriously as I called your company to ensure that the hotel had family rooms for 5 . The hotel told me that you should not have told me this .Frau Herbst (Renaissance)

The hotel also has a restaurant, a bar which also serves food, a gift shop selling souvenirs and travel toiletries, and a bureau de change. Rooms are cosy and traditional, with soft, luxurious bedding. The Renaissance has a large car park with 24-hour security patrols and CCTV, so you can leave your car here while youre on holiday, and catch the Heathrow Hoppa or a free local bus from the hotel to the airport. You can also park in the airports Long Stay car park or book our Meet and Greet package, where you drive to the terminal and hand your car over to a driver who will park it for you.
We recommend the Renaissance Heathrow for:
Location - The Renaissance cant be beaten for location if youre flying from terminal 1 or 3. Its right next to the runway - youre five minutes from check-in in a taxi.
Delicious dining - The Market Garden Restaurant has a hot and cold breakfast buffet, as well as an a la carte breakfast menu should your favourite dish not be included. Theres a new lunch menu in the restaurant, while evening diners can choose from international dishes on the a la carte menu or a three-course buffet dinner. Lighter meals and snacks are served in Bar Eleven from noon to midnight. Or if you just want a coffee and a muffin mid-morning, theres a Starbucks in the lobby.
Parking - Either park in the hotel car park and catch the bus to the airport in the morning, take your car to the Long Stay car park at the airport or book our Meet and Greet package, where your car is collected from you outside the terminal and parked for you.
A great nights sleep - Beds at the Renaissance are so famously comfortable you can even buy the pillows for your own home. Despite the closeness of the runway, you wont be disturbed by aeroplanes we enjoyed a blissfully quiet nights rest.
Getting to the airport:
The Heathrow Hoppa shuttle bus runs regularly to terminals 2, 3 and 5 during the airports opening hours and takes around 15 minutes. If you're travelling from terminal 4 you'll need to catch the Hoppa to terminal 2 and then the free Heathrow Express - to save time we recommend getting a taxi instead.
Prices for the Hoppa vary depending on when you travel:
2018 - £4.50 per person one way. £9 per person return.
2019 - £5 per person one way. £9.50 per person return.
There's also a free public bus. It stops outside the Sheraton Skyline, which is a 5-minute walk away.
Travelling by train? The nearest station is Hillingdon, a 5-minute drive from the Renaissance. A 4-seater taxi costs around £9.
Check-in: from 3pm. Check-out: by 12 noon.
Overnight parking at the hotel is available if you need it and costs £15 per car.
This package doesnt include parking while youre away. If you need parking for the duration of your trip search for an airport hotel with parking package instead.
All bedrooms have triple-glazed windows which guests say block out the airport traffic well. They're bright and spacious, and some have a runway view, which you can request when you check in.
