Leeds Bradford International Airport (LBIA) has been nominated as the Best Airport for Leisure in this year's British Travel Awards. Named alongside some of the biggest UK airports at the travel industry's "Oscars", LBIA is being recognised for its wider choice of destinations.
LBIA's nomination has followed a series of developments and expansion at the airport, including the announcement of the first Leeds Bradford to New York flight in November. With Thomas Cook and Ryanair both extending their services from the Yorkshire airport, the nomination emphasises the promise that LBIA is showing.
Tony Hallwood, LBIA's Commercial & Aviation Development Director, showed his delight at being nominated:
"We are thrilled to have been nominated for the award, Best UK Airport for Leisure Travel 2008. We are indeed proud to be recognised as delivering our widest ever choice of services to Yorkshire and everyone at the airport will eagerly await the judges decision in early November."
The British Travel Awards aims to reward the best companies in travel, with categories including transport, destinations, accommodation, customer service and holiday extras.
