Coronavirus, Gran Canaria and Travel Insurance

Spanish authorities have implemented measures to try and limit the spread of the coronavirus across the country, including on the Canary Islands. There are currently many confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Spain, including some reported on Gran Canaria. For up-to-date details from Spanish authorities, and advice for visiting Gran Canaria, visit the Spanish Ministry of Health website.

When entering Gran Canaria via the airport or cruise terminals, you will encounter health screening measures, designed to identify potential coronavirus sufferers. Many local events have also been cancelled to prevent large public gatherings. Visit the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) to stay updated on developments in Gran Canaria.

Will Coronavirus Affect my Gran Canaria Travel Insurance?

The worldwide spread of coronavirus has been widely publicised, leaving many travellers feeling anxious about the effects that the virus may have on their travel insurance policies. We have created a coronavirus guidance page, which is a regularly updated source of information about our travel insurance policies and the impacts of COVID-19 on policies.

  • Use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser if you have been out in public.
  • Cover your mouth to catch any coughs and sneezes and get rid of used tissues straight away..
  • Avoid close contact with anyone displaying symptoms of coronavirus.
