Get dependable Europe travel insurance for your Parisian getaway from only * per week for an adult
Paris, the city of love. Famed first and foremost as the capital of culture. Gastronomy just about pips second place. Thirdly, as the capital city of France! Whether you're going for a romantic long weekend or you're lucky enough to be there for a week-long holiday, you'll undoubtedly have an incredible time in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. As one of the most popular European city destinations, and its close proximity to the UK, make sure you have a travel insurance policy that suits your holiday plans. C'est chic, non?
Choosing a travel insurance policy
Whether it's a spontaneous weekend mini-break or a meticulously-planned group trip, travel insurance is still as important as ever for visiting Paris. Without getting bogged down, or overwhelmed with an abundance of policies from different providers, we like to keep things as straightforward for you as possible. Our insurance experts here at Holiday Extras have enhanced our existing two products (Single Trip and Annual Multi-Trip) with 4 brand-new products from our new underwriters, TIF (Travel Insurance Facilities), all with varying levels of cover to suit whatever your plans.
For a brief look at what we have to offer, take a look at the table below to get an idea of what you can expect from our policies:
Single Trip or Annual Multi-Trip?
One of the best things about Paris is that it's nestled right in the north west of France in such a close proximity to the UK; the Eurostar only takes just over 2 hours from London St Pancras to Gare du Nord! Considering how easy it is to get there, you might consider making the trip more than once a year. If you fancy yourself a Francophile and a true Parisian at heart, then why not consider an annual multi-trip policy which covers you multiple times throughout the year. Below is another table giving you a taste of what both policies can offer you:
|Your trip can last up to 365 days but must start and end in the UK to be entirely valid||Maximum trip duration varies depending on the policy: 22 days for Bronze, 31 days for Silver and Gold, 45 days for Platinum|
|Travel insurance must be bought on UK soil for it to be valid. So don't try to book a policy at the airport gate, on the runway or while abroad!||Groups can benefit from an annual policy and do not have to live together to be valid — that's just for family policies!|
|All ages are accepted on single trip policies. However, age limits apply on our cruise policies.||Under 18s must travel with an adult and you cannot travel on the policy if you are older than 79 years old at the date of booking|
|With prices starting from just *||With prices starting from just **|

Do I need travel insurance for France?
While the UK is just about still in Europe and we still have access to the EHIC (read more on Brexit here), you still need the relevant travel insurance policy behind you as a safety net in case something wrong should happen along the way. Should you need cancellation cover, medical insurance or baggage insurance, sorting out the right policy is imperative. Tailored around the overall cost of your holiday and any medical conditions you might have, having travel insurance in your back pocket could end up saving you a small fortune should something happen to you travelling uninsured. Sacré bleu!
Top tourist attractions in Paris
The Eiffel Tower
Without a doubt the most iconic landmark in France, perhaps dare we say, in the world. Fair warning, if you intend to ascend la tour Eiffel during the prime summer months, be expected to be greeted with queues. Truly astonishingly, long queues. You'll undoubtedly see the Eiffel Tower whilst you're walking along the banks of the Seine, but at Holiday Extras we think that it's at its most impressive at night, up-close and personal.
Situated in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, designed by Charles Garnier and home to the Paris Opera, the Palais Garnier is one of the most elaborately adorned buildings in France. Built in the architectural style of the Second Empire, the opera house is perhaps rivalled only by Versailles in its gilded opulence. You might feel acquainted with its famous staircases and chandelier as the direct inspiration for Gaston Leroux's 1910 novel, The Phantom of the Opera. To have a look around the magnificent building, taking in Chagall's infamous fresco on the ceiling, will set you back around €14 and is free for under 12s.
You might fancy a break from the boulevards and museums, and find yourself pining after something still Parisian but wholly natural. Well then, look no further. The Luxembourg Gardens, or Jardin du Luxembourg, is situated just off the Latin Quarter in the 6th arrondissement of Paris and is absolutely breathtaking.
Notre-Dame de Paris
After the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame is probably the most famous landmark in all of France and the most recognisable cathedral in the world. Nestled in the Île de la Cité, the construction of Notre Dame began in 1163 and has undergone unfortunate damage over the years in the name of restoration and as collateral damage during the French Revolution. Its immense bells and three iconic rose windows have been immortalised more recently in its lifetime through Victor Hugo's 1831 novel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Unfortunately, since the fire which broke out on 15 April 2019, Notre Dame is closed to the public until further notice. The fire consumed the centuries-old spire and medieval roof, but luckily spared the rose windows, bell towers and organ.
